During computer
classes students will develop skills and enhance current
knowledge of a variety of technological tools. Word
processing software will be used to complete a variety of
tasks. Spreadsheet software will be used to calculate data,
write and apply formulas, and graph data. Slide
presentations will be created using presentation software.
In addition, Grade 8 students will create and use databases
to organize, report, and display data. They will also use
sort and find to retrieve data.
The computer/technology classes for K-2 will develop skills
in basic computing using a variety of technological tools
and software. We develop keyboarding techniques to enter
data and identify relative position of letters and numbers.
We use word processing to create and print documents, paint
program and age appropriate software to enhance skills
taught in the classroom e.g., math, phonics, language
skills, spelling etc. |
We will learn how
to use:
- Letter and number keys
- Punctuation and symbol keys
- Simple features as; shift for upper and lower case
letters
- Locate special characters e.g., spacebar, enter,
delete, return, arrows, backspace
We will identify and discuss the physical components of a
computer e.g., monitor, keyboard, disk drives. Internal
components e.g., hard drive, modem, and all c.p.u. related
articles.
